Political Morning

As most of you know, our fair state has seen the candidates this year. Really a nice benefit of living here, one among many I should say. Yesterday morning both Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee were in town, just blocks from each other. I tried to see both, but made it only to Thompson's as Huckabee's was too full and the sound wasn't loud enough for me to hear from outside on the sidewalk. For those of you who are undecided Republicans, Thompson's site is fred08.com and Huckabee's is mikehuckabee.com. I have come to understand that for those who are straight party-liners the primary/caucus vote is really more important than their vote in November as their decision will already be made for them. Interesting how the whole process works huh. I'll post an undate after I have actually attended the caucus to let you know how my first experience went. Oh, I almost forgot, I shook Thompson's hand!

Home Again

We made it home, apparently just barely as we left Grandma and Grandpa's about 15 minutes before the storm hit there. Our road conditions in general for the trip were really good except for a couple short places. Thank God for that. Also, the ceramics store in town finished firing my sister's Christmas present in record time. Thanks to her too.

We had a great time visiting with family. We spent some good quality bonding time with my family over the new Wii my brother won at his company Christmas party. I held the scoring record on bowling for a while, but the rest of the sports were not so good. My husband kicked my bottom in boxing. Personally, I think the game took more of my energy with a hit than it took of his. Next time I'm going to choose a male boxer. I have to say that my arms and sides were pretty sore for the next couple days. So proceed with caution if you are going to play.

We also took our family pictures, which I have posted here for you. As well as one of Laina in model mode and one of the kids together.

Iced In

We got the ice yesterday. It was an interesting storm because it actually rained and then froze once it landed. A little different than most freezing rain I have experienced, which has only been since living here, that comes down and freezes immediately. The trees are very pretty, although we are starting to get concerned that we're not going to have any left in the front of the house as limbs keep breaking off. Large ones. They are looking a little thin after the last ice storm took some out too. I wish I could post some pictures, but the digital camera we have doesn't take decent pictures. I keep waiting for the SLR digital cameras to get into the price range I deem "worth it." It may take a while.

Laina was supposed to get her 18 month shots yesterday, but they were cancelled. Bonus for her! I don't think a month late will make that much of a difference.

A Second Try

We're going to try this again. I was so disappointed that it didn't work last time, as it is a great way to update people on what's going on in your life, so I thought I'd start all over. This is short as I don't want to invest a lot of time into it if it isn't going to work again. Hopefully more will be written later.
